SCS were engaged by Sunshine Coast Council via Transport and Main Roads to undertake the design and construction of a new pedestrian bridge and boardwalk over the North Maroochy River and intersection upgrade works at Seib Road in Eumundi. The bridge and boardwalk design had specific flood loading and upstream impact criteria to conform with as well as Department of Environment restrictions on the bridge through the waterway. The construction and installation involved a new 40m single span steel truss bridge. The bridge was manufactured offsite and assembled in a yard nearby, before installation overnight via a dual lift and full road closure of Noosa-Eumundi Road. The boardwalk spanned over 250m and was constructed onsite in composite materials. As part of the project, we also completed the intersection upgrade of Noosa-Eumundi Road and Seib Road and the re-seal, shotcrete and crash barrier renewal of Noosa-Eumundi Road.
